Director and co-founder one personal health
Frank Smarrelli is the co-founder and Director of one personal health, one of the most progressive gymnasiums in Australia. Along with his business partner, David Owen, Frank is responsible for developing the onelife programme through their facility in Brighton Australia. He is regarded as a pioneer in the Personal Training industry, with almost 20 years experience.

Representing his country in two different sports, Frank states, "Discipline, Commitment, Dedication and a desire to extract as much out of life as possible" drives him to believe that with these key elements and a life plan, anything and everything is possible.

Frank's life philosophy is based on two simple thoughts:

"It is better to regret something you did, rather than regret never trying at all, and life really is one big development course ...become a sponge and absorb as much as you can to make educated decisions about where you want to go, and who you want to be in life."

Sakis Michelis

One Personal Health Brighton Director of Pilates
Sakis Michelis is the Director of the Pilates Program at one personal health in Brighton.

Formerly a dancer with the Australian Ballet Company, Australian Dance Theatre, The West Australian Ballet and Queensland Ballet, Sakis has been practising Pilates for over 13 years and is active in body conditioning and rehabilitation.

He is a qualified Pilates Instructor, certified with the Australian Pilates Method Association (APMA).

Damien Rayson

Senior One Personal Health Brighton coordinator
Damien Rayson has been working at One Personal Health Brighton for three years. He is a senior trainer and admired by his peers and customers for having a great attitude, energy and positive outlook on life.

Damien completed in various sports throughout his life. He currently plays for the Coburg Tigers in the VFL and has also represented Australia and his state through the Victorian Amateur Football League.

Damien specialises in strength and conditioning and overall wellbeing.

Hayley Roper

Hayley has had nine years of quality, hands-on experience in the fitness industry. She started working at her family owned Health and Fitness Centre at 17 years of age as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Her sporting background helped develop her career in Fitness, having represented Victoria in surfing, running and dancing, as well as successfully completing a marathon in 2004 and a half marathon in 2006.

Hayley's qualifications include a Certificate 4 in fitness, a Diploma in Sports Development, a Certificate 3 in Sports and Recreation, and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Nutrition. She is currently studying Naturopathy in order to manage her clients overall health from a more holistic perspective and offer as much as she can to her clients.

Kate Save

Kate has completed a double degree in Nutrition/Dietetics and Exercise Science at Deakin University. Kate is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (Clinical and Sports) and an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. Kate lectures in the fields of Nutrition and Exercise Science for various educational institutions, schools and sporting clubs. Her key areas of focus are weight loss/maintenance, diabetes, heart disease and other obesity related diseases. The main focus of Kate's professional practice is assisting clients to achieve optimal health and well-being through balanced nutrition and appropriate physical activity. Kate works with clients of all ages ranging from school-age children through to older adults.

Kim McInnes

Kim McInnes is a passionate young lady when it comes to health, body and mind. She strives to educate her clients on the importance of fitness and nutrition to get the absolute best out of life.

Kim's background includes 14 years of disciplined gymnastics, representing her home state of South Austrlia in national competitions, winning numerous medals while achieving a high level of success in athletics.

Kim's experience led her to become a Stunt Performer at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan for 3 years, appearing in popular shows including Terminator, Wild West and Waterworld.

Kim is passionate about changing people's lives for the better, and here at One Personal Health Brighton, this is what she aims to do.

Jodie Nascarella

Jodie has been a Personal Trainer since completing her Bachelor of Applied Science - Human Movement in 2001. Fitness has always been her passion and Jodie's workouts have three points of focus; technique, variety and education.

Jodie is a big believer in challenging clients' stability and balance and making strength progressions whilst maintaining great posture.

Jodie believes that strength and mobility are vital to enhancing your everyday life and leisure pursuits. Further studies undertaken by Jodie include; Level 1 Boxing: Advanced Musculoskeletal Screening & Assessment: Ball Revolution: Scientific Rotation Training: Twist Conditioning Sports Strength Level 1: Twist Conditioning Sports Balance Level 1: and Twist Conditioning Sports Movement Level 1.

Wayne Rodgers

Wayne is a sports physiotherapist and personal trainer with 20 years experience in the health and fitness industries. He has been a sports physiotherapist for several national and international sporting teams, including the Australian Netball team and the Australian Commonwealth Games team. Currently based at One Personal Health and Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre, Wayne is also a regular presenter on corporate, sports physiotherapy and personal training seminars.

Wayne has a special interest in highly functional and effective training techniques and promotes the development of high performance through a combination of expert management and personal empowerment.

Dave Owen

First developed by our resident physiotherapist for elite athletes, our unique Advanced Musculoskeletal Screening and Assessment system is now available to all one clients.

This assessment – developed and implemented by one's physiotherapist tests every major joint and muscle group in your body, identifying any muscle imbalances.

It involves an initial 60-minute consultation, followed by a secondary consultation explaining all the findings and recommendations. At this second consultation, you will be presented with a detailed written report outlining all findings and recommendations – this report is yours to keep.

Our dietician is a presenter on channel 10 and is on the board of Dietetics Australia (Australia's governing body for dieticians).

Working closely with your personal health coordinator, your one dietician will conduct a diet and lifestyle assessment and provide advice on:

The one biochemical analysis comprehensively monitors many aspects of your physiology – enabling our exercise physiologist to identify ways to improve your overall internal health. A haematological finger prick sample is taken and analysed to determine your levels of:

• blood glucose
• total cholesterol
• HDL cholesterol
• LDL cholesterol
• Liver function
• Triglycerides

The analysis also reports on your total-cholesterol-to-HDL-cholesterol ratio, which can help determine your potential risk of heart disease. Other tests performed as part of the biochemical analysis include lung function, blood pressure and maximumoxygen uptake tests, which help to determine your overall health and fitness levels. Starting off at the gym some 10 years ago was daunting for me as I'd never been into one before. It was with trepidation that I signed myself on to personal training but once the assessment of my overall level of fitness had been made and a program designed specially to meet my needs, my fear slowly dissipated. Three years ago I was your typical walk-in customer; desperate to get fit, but without an ounce of self-discipline. For this reason, I knew I needed a personal trainer, but did not feel confident enough to go it alone. So I did what all good friends do, enlisted the support of a girlfriend and together we walked into One Personal Training.

I began seeing Alison a few years ago for a persistent shoulder injury. She came highly recommended but I must admit I was a little sceptical about how she could help me. After just one treatment from Alison, I was converted. I haven't bothered to try any other myotherapists so I have nothing to compare to, but why change something that works? Alison is professional, caring, and her treatments speak for themselves. My shoulder injury that I had carried for a few months was eased after one treatment and fixed after three.
